News & Highlights

• July 25^th, 2025: Lautaro is leaving us. We had a great time with you. All the best for the future. 

• July 15^th, 2025: Our two recently graduated PhD students Laura and Julian have won two awards. Julian wins the Falling Walls Lab Pitch Competition and Laura wins the Lise Meitner Award. Congratulations!

• July 10^th, 2025: Tim was a speaker on the  Quantum Art panel, where he discussed creative potential and new forms of collaboration between quantum computing and art with experts from the fields of science and art. More information

  

• July 10^th, 2025: Charlotta receives a physics study prize for her excellent Master's thesis.

  The Physics Study Prize of the Physikalische Gesellschaft zu Berlin is awarded annually to outstanding graduates of the Master's degree in physics. We congratulate you from the bottom of our hearts.

  

• July 1^th, 2025: Congratulations to Julian on the successful completion of your PhD thesis on the topic: Design, Fabrication, and Application of Novel Photonic Quantum Devices for Communication and Sensing. The group is proud of you. 

• June 30^th, 2025: It's time to say goodbye. Matthew is leaving the group. Your work has been valued. 
• June 28^th, 2025: This year, during the Long Night of Science, we demonstrated the principle of the total reflection of light on a jet of water. We also gave an interactive demonstration of the colour spectrum and a spectrosmeter. We were able to introduce our research to many children and interested visitors. See you next year!

   

  

• June 28^th, 2025: Maarten is at the Long Night of Science event of the Berlin University Alliance: "KUNST TRIFFT WISSENSCHAFT: Exhibition and Talk with Artists and Researchers". He presents our winning project in the Artist Talk and explains the magic between art and science.

   

• June 19^th, 2025: Laura won the Lise-Meitner Award for the best PHD. Congratulations!!
• June 16^th, 2025: Marco wins the Berlin University Alliance art meets science ideas competition! The image is printed on posters and will hang around the city (inside the Ring). Check out the link: Quantenlicht trifft Diamant-inspiriert vom Sägefisch

• May, 2025: Welcome to Laurato who will join us as a Master student!
• April 28th, 2025: Congratulations to Laura on very successfully completing your PhD! We are happy that you stay with us as a senior researcher.

• April, 2025: Welcome to Malo (Post-Doc), Lucca (PhD-Student), Marie (Master student) and Leon (Master student)!
• March 19, 2025: The jury of the Grand Challenge of Quantum Communication #GCQK organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has chosen the team ''QPIS Quantum Photonic Integrated Scalable Memory'' as the winner. Congratulations to Tim Schröder and Gregor Pieplow and the entire team!
